The Food and Drug Administration has granted EDTA approval as a method for removing toxins and impurities from the bloodstream. The sodium and calcium salts of EDTA are common sequestrants in many kinds of foods and beverages that we consume each day. The molecules of EDTA can bind to metal ions such as those found in aluminum, by forming six bonds to it.
