Coffee Enemas for Detoxification

The time-tested water enema evolved during WWI when German medic supplies – including morphine – were in short supply and nurses were desperate to find ways of alleviating the post-surgery pain of severely wounded soldiers. Water enemas were routinely used, but anxious to find a more potent pain reliever, one resourceful nurse intuitively used leftover brewed coffee and found it to be highly effective.

Reports of the coffee’s analgesic benefits prompted two German researchers to study the properties in coffee that produced these effects. In the 1920s, after experimenting with rats, they published their findings that the caffeinated enemas stimulated the opening of bile ducts (Bile is formed by the liver, stored in the gallbladder, and secreted into the intestines – via bile ducts – carrying waste for transit from the body).

HEAVY METAL DANGER OF CALCIUM

EDTA makes a reversible bond with metallic elements, and can let go of one metal in exchange for another. To understand how this works look at the chart on the next page. As you move up and to the left on the chart, the bond between EDTA and the metals becomes stronger, thus EDTA can let go of a metal for any other metal to the left of the chart.

Let’s start with magnesium EDTA and see what happens. Notice that magnesium (Mg) is to the right of calcium (Ca) on the chart. This means that EDTA has a greater affinity for, and makes a stronger bond with calcium, than it does with magnesium. If magnesium EDTA meets calcium in the bloodstream, the EDTA will drop the magnesium and attach to the calcium instead. Where will this calcium come from? It comes from the bloodstream as well as from the metastatic and dystrophic calcium in the body.

Now we have a calcium EDTA floating in the bloodstream. Look at the chart again, and you will see that to the left of calcium is lead (Pb). Calcium EDTA will drop its calcium in exchange for lead. Now you have free-floating calcium, which can be used to build bone and teeth and lead EDTA, which is a very stable complex. In a few hours, the lead EDTA will be removed from the body through the urine and stool.

You must be sure that the EDTA you use has not already been reacted with calcium, for if it has, it can no longer remove metastatic or dystrophic calcium, but only minerals for which it has a greater affinity (to the left of calcium on the chart). While a calcium EDTA will do fine in removing lead and other toxic metals, its chemistry does not allow it to drop its calcium in exchange for another calcium, and so is limited in its therapeutic effect.

Since the removal of metastatic calcium is a vitally important part of chelation, make sure that you use an EDTA that only has minerals bound to it to the right of calcium on the chart. Though not listed on this chart, potassium is to the right of calcium.

HYPERBARIC THERAPY FOR AUTISM

In one study, involving brain functionality and recovery for children with chemical exposures exhibiting PDD disorders, hyperbaric oxygen therapy was found to be remarkably effective. Treatments consisted of 10 sessions in a hyperbaric chamber at 1.3 ATA, for one hour per day, five consecutive days for two weeks. To increase validity to the study results, SPECT scans of each patient’s brain were taken before and after the hyperbaric treatments to quantify physical changes to the brain tissue. The SPECT scan showed an increase to blood flow and oxygen to the temporal lobe.

SPECT scans of patients taken before hyperbaric treatments showed a significant amount of dormant activity while scans taken of patient brains after hyperbaric indicated an increase in brain activity and blood flow. After hyperbaric therapy, dormant brain regions were replaced with greater functioning tissues and represented a scan more similar to a healthy individual.

In another recent study, measuring the effects of hyperbaric oxygen therapy on Autistic children ages 1-11 yrs, researchers found a total effectiveness of hyperbaric in 93.6 % of study participants. Researchers theorized that HBOT was effective in combating autoimmunity and the viral aspects of these conditions when encephalitis was present.

As we age, calcium accumulates in the soft tissues of the body. When it deposits in dead tissue, it is called dystrophic calcium (like atherosclerotic plaques). When it deposits in living tissue, it is called metastatic calcium (like arteriosclerosis). When calcium gets into a cell, the cell turns on, whatever “on” is for that cell. If it is a muscle cell that the calcium enters, then the muscle contracts. If the calcium stays there, the muscle stays contracted.

The familiar knots in our upper backs and necks are just such calcified muscles that are forever in the “on” or contracted position. The pathological version of this is fibromyalgia where there are many many such knotted muscles in the client’s body. The extreme example of this is, rigor mortis, in which all the muscles of the body flood with calcium and contract. As we age, we accumulate more and more dystrophic and metastatic calcium, and become stiffer and stiffer.

One of the best ways to remove dystrophic and metastatic calcium is through chelation. EDTA removes calcium in the same way that it removes other toxic metals. There are four binding sites on each EDTA molecule, each capable of grabbing on to one or one-half of another metallic atom. Since calcium is a metallic element, EDTA can readily form a chelated complex with it.

HYPERBARIC THERAPY FOR AUTISM

YouTube Preview Image

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) has been utilized to treat Autism in many countries throughout the globe. The rationale behind using hyperbaric for Autism is that the treatments increase cerebral blood flow and thus oxygen is delivered to areas of the brain, which are thought to be oxygen deficient. Greater amounts of blood and oxygen begin to stimulate cerebral tissues and aid in recovery of idling neurons. HBOT also reduces excess fluids and swelling of brain tissues which aid in neurological function and a less confused state in Autistics.

Hyperbaric is also used as a complementary therapy for the treatment of heavy metal detox for such materials as mercury. Hyperbaric assists in the metabolism of heavy metal removal. It can help a patient counteract the effects of heavy metal poisoning and helps body deal with toxins even as noxious as cyanide. It is often used in conjunction with chelation and other detox procedures to help support the body to deal with the impact commonly seen in the removal of heavy metals, mercury, toxins, and other contaminants.

Worldwide, medical researchers are discovering promising results with the effects of hyperbaric therapy on persons with Autism.

EDTA  & MAD COW DISEASE

http://www.balancedhealthtoday.com

Mad cow disease, also known as Creutzfeld-Jacob Disease (CJD) is known to be caused by small protein structures called prions. These prions are found in brain tissue of cows and other animals and are known to be virtually indestructible. They are unaffected by enzymes, heat or radiation. Given the long period of latency between being exposed to CJD and getting symptoms, it is possible that millions of people are now infected with CJD. This is a frightening prospect since CJD causes incredible pain and brain damage and invariably fatal in 14 months.

Prions are a natural component of animal tissue and may actually provide an antioxidant function. It is only when prions are converted from their PrPc form to their PrPsc form that they cause disease. Recent evidence suggests that healthy prions (PrPc ) are bound to the mineral copper whereas the pathological prions (PrPsc) are bound to the mineral manganese.

Indeed concentrations of CJD are found where the soil is low in copper and high in manganese and CJD patients have 10 times the levels of manganese as those without CJD.

Since EDTA will bind and remove toxic manganese, EDTA may prevent CJD or Mad Cow Disease.

HYPERBARIC TREATMENT FOR STROKE

Swelling of tissues, resulting in lack of blood flow and oxygen, often accompany the death of cells in brain tissues in stroke patients. Hyperbaric pressurizes the environment to allow oxygen to better penetrate parts of the body where blood flow is hindered. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy alleviates ischemia and hypoxia, which are defined as lack of blood flow and oxygen. In addition, the therapy decreases swelling of chronically traumatized areas of the brain as well as other swollen tissues.

Oxygen is dissolved in the plasma and nourishes tissues, regardless of the absence of red blood cells, when hyperbaric oxygen therapy is utilized. The pressurized chamber forces oxygen into all areas of the body, resulting in a re-awakening of dormant areas of the brain prevalent in persons who have suffered a stroke.

Hyperbaric therapy is also known to regenerate new blood vessels to damaged areas of the brain and aids in the repair and restoration of glial cells, extracellular matrix and injured neurons.

Here is a humorous look at a serious situation. This “recipe” is the average amount of each toxic metal a person will have taken into their bodies in their lifetime.
•1,460 grams of aluminum*
•¼ tsp arsenic
•1 tsp lead
•1/3 tsp mercury
•1 ½ tsp. nickel
•Sprinkling of cadmium (300 mg)
•1 pinch of uranium (80 mcg)
*A 12-inch square of aluminum foil is about 5 grams. A great visual aid to show clients is to have a crumpled up ball of aluminum foil on your desk. You can hand it to them and explain that they will ingest the equivalent of 292 of these in their lifetime

TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY

• For traumatic brain injury, one randomized trial provided fair evidence that HBOT might reduce mortality or the duration of coma in severely injured TBI (traumatic brain injuries) patients.

However, in this trial, HBOT also increased the chance of a poor functional outcome. A second fair quality randomized trial found no difference in mortality or morbidity overall, but a significant reduction in mortality in one subgroup.

Therefore, they provide insufficient evidence to determine whether the benefits of HBOT outweigh the potential harms.

• The quality of the controlled trials was fair, meaning that deficiencies in the design add to uncertainty about the validity of results.

• Due to flaws in design or small size, the observational studies of HBOT in TBI do not establish a clear, consistent relationship between physiologic changes after HBOT sessions and measures of clinical improvement.

• The evidence for use of HBOT in other types of brain injury is inconclusive. No good- or fair-quality studies were found.

TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY

Predicting the outcome of brain injury, cerebral palsy, and stroke is difficult. Prognostic instruments, such as the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) for brain injury, are not precise enough to reliably predict an individual patient’s mortality and long-term functional status. Various prognostic criteria for the cerebral palsy patient’s function have been developed over the years.

For example, if a patient is not sitting independently when placed by age 2, then one can predict with approximately 95 percent confidence that he/she never will be able to walk. However, it is not possible to predict precisely when an individual patient is likely to acquire a particular ability, such as smiling, recognizing other individuals, or saying or understanding a new word.
