This warning is
issued amid growing evidence that the use of devices can be linked
to cancer, mental health and reproductive health problems. It is
described that the device sends information using low frequency
radio signals, which can expose us to unhealthy radiation,
especially when streaming or downloading large files.
Research has not been able to prove definitively that cell phone
radiation is harmful, but there is considerable research linking the
two to watch out for, especially for children, according to a health
department press release.
"Putting the device close to the body is never a good idea. The
device manufacturers also seem to agree on this. For example, they
include a notice of frequency exposure (RF) in the device settings,"
said Dr. Devra Davis of the Environmental Health Trust, as quoted
from the Daily Mail page, Monday (12/18/2017).
California's health guidance notes that RF can more easily penetrate
children's brain than adults. Exposure can also be more destructive
and has a more lasting effect on the developing brain.
Studies have shown evidence that exposure to cell phones can cause
tumors in the brain or the ear, where the body is often in contact
with the device devices.
Although research on the effects of RF on children is particularly
rare, many psychologists have warned that using devices may be
associated with poorer mental health and adolescent sleep.
Less than a week ago, France banned the use of gadgets for primary
and secondary school children. Although the purpose of the ban is
primarily related to mental health, it gets praise from experts who
are concerned about radiation exposure. The country has also been at
the forefront of research on the physical health effects of exposure
to electronic devices.
