Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's Disease are two conditions that bring about inflammation of the intestines. Ulcerative Colitis is a chronic inflammation of the colon or large intestine. The colon is that part of our bodies where waste material is stored. The symptoms of Ulcerative Colitis are rectal bleeding, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Like Crohn's disease, the causes of these two conditions are still unknown. There is also no convincing evidence that these two conditions are caused by infections nor are they contagious. 

Crohn's disease meanwhile is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the intestines. The disease primarily causes ulcerations of the small and large intestines but it can also affect the digestive system anywhere from the anus to the mouth. The disease has been first described in 1932 and is named after the physician who first described it. Crohn's disease is also called granulomatous enteritis or colitis, ileitis, regional enteritis and terminal ileitis. 

Crohn's disease is also one of the illnesses together with ADD/ADHD, insomnia, Alzheimer's disease and head injuries that can be treated with Hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
