http://www.balancedhealthtoday.com/Hyperbaric-Oxygen-Chamber-Testimonials.html Hyperbaric oxygen therapy has long been used in mainstream medicine to treat a dozen very specific problems, such as stubborn wounds, but its use in neurological conditions is highly controversial.

In the past few years, parent activism has spawned a nationwide movement to get research and recognition for the use of the therapy for their disabled children. And the mainstream medical community — though skeptical — is starting to funnel some money and effort into the question.

“”As of now, there is no scientific evidence in support of the use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy for cerebral palsy, but on the other hand, there are still enough questions here that we are reluctant to say this is just foolishness,”" said Dr. Murray Goldstein, medical director of the United Cerebral Palsy Research and Education Foundation.

The organization expects soon to announce a $300,000 study into the treatment, which involves multiple sessions in a chamber over the course of weeks or months.

www.hbot.com Some parents of children with cerebral palsy and other forms of brain damage say a treatment long used by doctors for other conditions has brought what seem like near-miraculous advances in kids who hadn’t been able to talk, walk or feed themselves.
The treatment — hyperbaric oxygen therapy, or HBOT — delivers pure oxygen at higher-than-normal pressures to patients sitting or lying in a chamber. Although there is no proof, advocates believe that in brain damage cases the extra oxygen can prompt dormant or damaged neurons to become reinvigorated. http://www.balancedhealthtoday.com/hyperbaric-chamber.html

http://www.balancedhealthtoday.com/hyperbaric-chamber.html Ninety-one subjects completed a total of 1,995 hyperbaric oxygen treatments, although nine were eliminated later due to the presence of another medical problem not apparent during their treatments. These other medical problems were such things as babesiosis, ehrlichosis, hepatitis C, and previously unidentified neurological problems. Two subjects were eliminated due to the development of septicemia from IV catheters, and one because of recent breast cancer, although all three of them later showed an improvement of Lyme symptoms with hyperbaric oxygen administration.

Subject evaluation was carried out by an abbreviated questionnaire taken from a standard questionnaire used by several Lyme specialists as part of their evaluation. This questionnaire was designed so that zero reflected no symptoms, while ten reflected severe symptoms. http://www.balancedhealthtoday.com/Hyperbaric-Chamber-FAQ.html

Hyperbaric oxygen is now used to treat conditions other than those related to diving. Australian researchers studied whether hyperbaric oxygen was an effective treatment of TBI while patients were still in an intensive care unit following injury.

They found that the treatment did reduce the risk of dying from the injury but did not find conclusive evidence that it improved outcomes in patients who survived. They concluded that at present the evidence was insufficient to support use of hyperbaric oxygen in the treatment of TBI but was sufficient to support more studies. http://www.balancedhealthtoday.com/Hyperbaric-Chamber-FAQ.html

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is being studied as a treatment of traumatic brain injury.

Hyperbaric” oxygen simply means oxygen that is given at pressures greater than atmospheric pressure, which is the pressure of the air we normally breathe. To achieve high pressures, a compression chamber is used. These chambers look like a miniature submarine and are built to withstand the high air pressure created inside them, which is where the patient is treated. Compression chambers were first used to treat divers with “the bends,” a condition that occurs when a diver ascends too rapidly and nitrogen compressed in the blood as a result of high underwater pressure expands too rapidly for the body to adapt.

So, how do you know if you are oxygen deficient? Oxygen deficiency includes, but is not limited to, the following signs and symptoms.

•General fatigue, insomnia
•Neurological headache, memory loss, forgetfulness, concentration difficulties, dizziness
•Psychological depression, anxiety, agitation, irritability, impatience, anger, aggressiveness, apathy, boredom, inactivity, unrealistic expectations, loss of ambition, foreboding
•Cardiovascular – chest pressure, palpitations
•Respiratory frequent sighing, breathing problems, yawning
•Gastrointestinal – swallowing difficulties, indigestion, gas, constipation, abdominal pain
•Musculoskeletal numbness, weakness, teeth grinding, joint pain, muscle tension
•Endocrine – decreased libido
•Immunity infections, accelerated aging, cancer
•Other – susceptibility to climate changes, reduced body temperature, most any diagnosed disease It is especially interesting to note that cancer does not grow in well-oxygenated environments. Anaerobic bacteria, viruses and fungi also can not survive in an abundance of oxygen. Microorganisms become more virulent when you are lacking oxygen. These signs and symptoms of oxygen deficiency are exacerbated by the following factors.
•High stress
•Excessive work in a modern sealed building •Highly polluted environment
•Regular and heavy exercise
•Frequent air travel
Smoke from smoking or second hand smoke
•Regular alcohol intake
•Lengthy daily commutes in congested traffic So, what can you possibly do about oxygen deficiency? Proper breathing techniques are helpful, but not enough. You also need to use a hyperbaric chamber!

HBOT can be used successfully in hypoxic or ischemic wounds such as diabetic wounds, venous static ulcers, failing flaps and grafts, refractory osteomylitis and necrotising soft tissue infections. In wound healing, hypoxia delivers an insufficient supply of oxygen which prevents normal healing processes.

HBOT combats clinical infection such as gas gangrene by directly acting on the anaerobic bacteria, enhancing leukocyte and macrophage activity while potentiating the effects of antibiotics.

HBOT provides the oxygen needed to support and stimulate wound healing. HBOT is safe, non-invasive and a non-toxic therapy.

HBOT is also very much accessible. Single bag hyperbaric chambers are sold at $12,900 and double bag chambers are at $16,900. Single bag hyperbaric chambers can also be rented at $2,000 a month and $2,,675 for double bag chambers.

Both hyperbaric bag chambers measure over 34 inches in diameter and 105 inches long. These chambers can easily fit both adult and child at the same time.

Start spreading the word about HBOT and start helping lives as well.

Problem wounds are those which fail to respond to established medical and surgical management. Such wounds usually develop in patients with multiple local and systemic factors contributing to poor tissue healing. These include diabetic foot ulcers, compromised amputation sites, vascular insufficiency ulcers (ulcers with poor circulation) and non-healing traumatic wounds. All share the common problem of tissue hypoxia (low tissue oxygen levels), usually related to impaired circulation.

Diabetic foot wounds are one of the major complications of diabetes and an excellent example of the type of complicated wound which can be treated with hyperbaric oxygen. Many diabetics have impaired arterial circulation in their feet and have great difficulty with wound healing of foot ulcers.

The elevation in tissue oxygenation which occurs in the hyperbaric chamber induces significant changes in the wound repair process that promote healing. When the hyperbaric chamber is used in conjunction with standard wound care, improved results have been demonstrated in the healing of difficult or limb threatening wounds.
