By the way, this is not just for having health hair, it is the basis for a healthy diet.

Do your best to have 15 – 20% of your diet be comprised of fish, nuts, grains, seeds, eggs, poultry or dairy products as a lack of amino acids can inhibit cell growth as well as hair growth.

Vitamins A, C, E, biotin, B5, as well as B6 and B12 are all very beneficial to your hair. They all come from food sources. A, C and E can be food in most fruits and vegetables and biotin, B5, as well as B6 and B12 can be found in yeast, grains, eggs, liver, rice, and milk. Also a good multi-vitamin is an additional source.

Along with protein, zinc and other natural sources will help your hair in looking healthier and may also prevent hair loss. Keeping a balanced diet will also be effective in making sure that your hair stays thicker and healthier.

Washing

It is recommended to not wash your hair more than once a day; however, you should wash it at least once a week.

This will allow the dirt and oils to come out of the hair with the proper washings. It will also allow nutrients to move through the hair in order to allow for protection, as well as growth.

If you have a sensitive scalp, you should consider using a softer type of shampoo or one that has specific medication to help your hair.

Oils Treatments for Hair Loss

Various oils have been proven to provide you with treatments that you can use to help with your hair loss. By knowing which oils are available, and are proven effective, you can help in keeping a healthy hair look.

Thyme, Rosemary, Lavender, and Cedarwood are some of the known oils that are often used. All of these oils have essential nutrients that will react with the scalp and hair to allow for new growth and less strain in the scalp area.

* If you have a lump in your breast, your doctor will check for the following:

o Fibrocystic changes: Fibrocystic changes, previously called Fibrocystic Disease, are the most common benign or harmless (does not threaten health or life) condition of the breast. Changes can occur in one or both breasts, most commonly in the upper and outer sections. You may feel a thickening of the fibrous tissue that supports your glands. Common lumps, called fibroadenomas, occur during the reproductive years. They feel rubbery and movable. They often occur with fibrocystic changes.

o Cysts: Breast cysts are fluid-filled lumps. They can be tender, especially before your period.

* Breast cancer: Some lumps may be cancer. Breast cancer is usually associated with the risk factors of age, genetics, or hormones. About 75% of breast cancers occur in women older than 50 years, 23% occur in women ages 30-50 years, and 2% occur in women under 30 years.

o Genetics is believed to play a role if your mother or sister (referred to as first-degree relatives) were diagnosed with breast cancer before menopause. You have a two to three times higher risk than the general population of developing breast cancer.

o Hormonal factors may play a role. If you have had the following conditions, you may have an increased incidence of breast cancer (possibly because of longer exposure to a hormone called estrogen).
+ Had your first period at an early age

+ Had menopause at a later age

+ Have never had a child or your first pregnancy was after age 30

o Cancer may also be explained by one of many theories including exposure to viruses, chemicals, radiation, dietary factors, and genes (for example, BRCA-1). No single theory explains all types of breast cancer.

When your hair is wet, it will be easier for it to stretch and break.

Be careful with the types of products that you are putting in your hair. While most hair products that are used for dying hair are known to be safe, some will contain extra chemicals that can be detrimental. This will then cause the protective layer to be lost and will leave your hair exposed.

Nutrition Vitamins to Help Hair Loss

One of the major reasons hair losses occurs is the lack of nutrients and vitamins in your body. Besides giving you a healthy and great looking head of hair a change in your diet may go a long way in helping you prevent or delay hair loss.

Make sure that at least half of what you eat every day is fruits, vegetables, whole grains, boiled potatoes or brown rice. These are essential unrefined carbohydrates and are a source of energy and B vitamins that are great for healthy hair.

For a different treatment, you can use what is known as carrier oils. These will carry the nutrients from the oil onto your scalp. The two well-known oils for this treatment is jojoba and grape seed oil. They are also a natural source for improving hair growth. For those who are worried about putting chemicals on the scalp, essential, natural oils are a good alternative.

The best way to use these types of oils to help with hair loss is to use a specific amount of the oils on your scalp every day. You can easily rub them into your scalp and massage them into the areas that are not growing as much hair. The oils will tell the area to add more hair and will promote stronger hair growth. Using these oils daily is necessary to achieve the needed results.

Oils are a great treatment that cannot hurt your scalp, slows hair loss, and is easy to apply and use.

Don’t hesitate to speak with an aromatherapist as they will have more information for you.

Breast Lumps and Pain Causes

Many possible causes exist for pain or tenderness in one of your breasts or in both breasts. Most often the pain can be attributed to harmless causes such as puberty or pregnancy. It can also be a recurrent problem for women with cyclical pain associated with the menstrual cycle. Although cancer is a major concern for most women, it is rarely the cause of isolated breast pain.

* Some causes of breast pain are:

o Fibrocystic breast disease

o Premenstrual syndrome, cyclic mastalgia

o Normal hormonal fluctuations

o Onset of puberty or menopause

o Pregnancy

o Breastfeeding (nursing)

o Estrogen therapy

o Chest wall tenderness (costochondritis)

o Injury to the breast (trauma, after breast surgery)

o Shingles (pain is only in 1 breast, usually accompanied by a rash)

o Use of certain medications such as digoxin (Lanoxin), methyldopa (Aldomet), spironolactone (Aldactone), oxymetholone (Anadrol), and chlorpromazine (Thorazine)

o An infection in the breast (breast abscess, mastitis)

o Breast cancer

HAIR LOSS PREVENTION

Hair loss is problem that is linked to a variety of factors, such as age, genetics, diet, and diseases.

As with most things concerning the body, prevention plays a big role when it comes to health. With hair loss prevention is no different and caring for your hair, keeping it healthy and avoiding the problem in the first place is to treat hair loss.

Brushing and Styling for Hair Loss Prevention

You can start hair loss prevention by brushing your hair. Brushing is known to help remove the dead hair as well the dirt and debris that collected throughout the day.

Daily brushing, besides helping to remove the dead hair and the dirt and debris, also helps in moving oils and nutrients all around your scalp and your hair.

Keep in mind that it is best to not do this for a prolonged period of time. For longer hair, it is also better to use a comb instead of a brush, as a comb won’t rip out the hair. Even when using a comb, it is best to not use it in excess, but rather, only to style hair or to get rid of extra tangles. This will allow the protective coating (the cuticle) to stay in place and continue to provide protection for your health hair.

Go gentle on the curling irons, blow dryers and curlers. The high heat is not good for your hair. It may look good to you that night, but you may be damaging or killing the hairs or cuticles on your scalp.

Well chosen hairstyles can often hide hair loss effectively. Partial hairpieces or wigs are recommended if hair loss is severe.

Finally, hair transplantation has improved dramatically over the last several years. During a hair transplant, healthy hairs are harvested from an area of the scalp with normal hair growth. Individual hairs are then placed into areas of hair loss. When done well, the result is extremely natural appearing.

See a doctor if you experience hair loss at the same time as you experience the following symptoms: skin problems, breathing problems, poor appetite or unexplained weight loss, vomiting, fever, pain, constipation or diarrhea.

Treatment of Hair Loss

If hair loss is caused by a temporary situation such as medication, stress or insufficient iron, however, however, the hair loss will stop when its cause ends. Hair loss due to infection may require oral antibiotics or antifungals. Alopecia areata can be treated with injections of steroids such as triamcinolone into the area. For all of the causes, early treatment works the best.

For hair loss caused by androgenic alopecia, there is no cure, although many treatments are available. Finasteride (Propecia) is a prescription hair loss treatment that is prescribed for men only. Minoxidil (Rogaine) is rubbed directly onto the scalp and works for both men and women. It usually works best for hair loss at top and back of the scalp, where there is still some remaining hair. This is available over the counter at most pharmacies.

* Noncyclic mastalgia: Breast pain that is not associated with the menstrual cycle is called noncyclic mastalgia. It occurs less often than the cyclic form. It typically occurs in women older than 40 years and is not related to the menstrual cycle. It is sometimes linked to a fibrous mass (called a fibroadenoma) or a cyst.
* Breast pain or tenderness may also occur in a teenage boy. The condition, called gynecomastia, is enlargement of the male breast which may occur as a normal part of development, often during puberty.
* Breast infection: The breast is made up of hundreds of tiny milk-producing sacs called alveoli. They are arranged in grapelike clusters throughout the breast. Once breastfeeding begins, milk is produced in the alveoli and secreted into tube-shaped milk ducts that empty through the nipple.

Mastitis is an infection of the tissue of the breast that occurs most frequently during the time of breastfeeding. This infection causes pain, swelling, redness, and increased temperature of the breast. It can occur when bacteria, often from the baby’s mouth, enter a milk duct through a crack in the nipple. This causes an infection and painful inflammation of the breast.

* Thyroid disease. Both an overactive and underactive thyroid can cause hair loss. The hair loss associated with thyroid disease can be reversed with proper treatment.

* Inadequate protein in diet. Some vegetarians, people who go on crash diets that exclude protein, and those with severely abnormal eating habits, may develop protein malnutrition. When this happens, a person’s body will help to save protein by shifting growing hairs into the resting phase. Massive hair shedding can occur two to three months later. Hair can then be pulled out by the roots. This condition can be reversed by eating the proper amount of protein.

* Medications. Prescription drugs can cause temporary hair shedding in a small percentage of people. Examples of such drugs are blood thinners, some drugs used to treat gout and arthritis, acne, or psoriasis, and some medications for heart problems.

* Cancer treatment drugs. Most drugs used in chemotherapy will cause hair cells to stop dividing. Hair shafts become thin and break off as they exit the scalp. This can occur one to three weeks after beginning chemotherapy. The patient may lose all of his hair, but this will usually re-grow after treatment ends.

” * Birth control pills. Women who lose their hair when taking birth control pills usually have an inherited tendency towards hair thinning.

* Low serum iron. Iron deficiency sometimes produces hair loss. Low iron can be detected by laboratory tests and corrected with iron pills.

* Alopecia areata. In this type of hair loss, hair usually falls out, resulting in totally smooth, round patches about the size of a coin or larger. This disease may affect children, women or men of any age.

* Androgenic alopecia. This is the most common type of hair loss and is often called “”male- or female-pattern baldness”". The hair usually thins out first in the front of the scalp and moves progressively to the back and top of the head. It tends to be progressive. This type of hair loss also runs in families.

* Infections. Ringworm, or tinea capitus, is a common fungal infection in children. Patches of hair may be lost and replaced with pink scaly skin.
